Mercy had lived with a large, painful lipoma on her back for over seven years. This condition not only caused her physical discomfort but also affected her social life and confidence. The lipoma became a source of embarrassment, and her peers often teased her, making school a difficult experience. Unfortunately, Mercy’s family lacked the financial means to afford the specialized treatment she needed, and the prospect of her attending a well-equipped hospital seemed out of reach.

In August 2020, we met Mercy and immediately recognized her need for care. Gift of Carers facilitated her surgery, removing the lipoma and providing her with much-needed relief. Today, Mercy is back in school, embracing her education with confidence and without the worries that previously held her back. She can now interact with her peers freely, without fear of ridicule. Her journey underscores the importance of accessible healthcare and its role in restoring not only health but dignity and self-esteem.
